The Turkish Chairmanship-in-Office of The South East European Cooperation Process
Turkey first chaired the SEECP in 1998-1999. 10 years after its first chairmanship, Turkey assumed the Chairmanship-in-Office of the SEECP once again on 5 June 2009.
Turkey's understanding is that the SEECP gives the region the opportunity for greater solidarity and full regional integration. Turkish Chairmanship will try to exploit this opportunity to the extent possible on the basis of the principles of "regional ownership" and "all inclusiveness".
With these in mind, the main themes of the Turkish Chairmanship-in-Office of the SEECP will be European integration and the development of a new common vision which would provide the region with a tangible framework to deepen regional cooperation in every possible field.
That is why we have chosen "From Shared History to Common Future" as the slogan of our Chairmanship. This slogan is the bare expression of Turkey's firm belief in the common future of the Southeast European region. |
